FEMALE FRIENDLY CHANGE FACILITIES FUNDING

On Friday the 19th of July, Jaclyn Symes, the Member for Northern Victoria, announced the successful funding for the Female Friendly Change Facilities at Redlegs Stadium.

The Redlegs started the process of upgrading the netball court and facilities back in September 2019, creating a three-staged plan with the construction of a second netball court to cater to the growing numbers in netball participation, particularly junior girls.

Stage 2 was to upgrade and deliver lighting for both courts. Both stage 1 & 2 were delivered together for the start of the 2022 season. The cost of stages 1-2 was approximately $90,000.00, with the club contributing $65,000.00, and the remainder funded by a state grant thanks to Nationals MP Damian Drum and the Bendigo Bank Nagambie & Heathcote.

The club has also received funding from the Strathbogie Shire through the Pick My Project application process to provide additional shelters for visiting teams.

The funding announcement, guided by the Victorian Commonwealth Games funding redirected to the Sports and Infrastructure fund, amounts to $680,000.00—a combination of State Government funding, Strathbogie Shire, and a $40,000.00 commitment from the club. This project is set to be delivered in the 2025 season.

Kathryn Goodall from the Redlegs and Craig White from the Strathbogie Shire have been instrumental in keeping this project on track. The project is well-supported by local politicians, the Community Centre of Management, and the community.

We look forward to providing these facilities for all female participants, visitors, and guests of the club.
